Essay must be 800-1000 words in length and have 2-4 accompanying photographs supporting the essay.

Deadline to submit photo entries to the Global Travel & Tourism Program (GTTP) Digital Photo Competition.

The objectives of the competition:
To show a special aspect of a student’s community to people who have never been there.

What to photograph:
Examples: it could be a historic building; a natural feature, such as a lake or mountain; an event, such as a procession; a local specialty, such as food; an activity or sport; a person or a group of people.

Winning photos:
Three winners in each country will each receive $100 and all three will be entered in the international competition. The first prize in the international competition is $800. Second prize is $500.

Lancement du concours de photos du GTTP

Il s’agit d’un concours international de photos numériques auquel les élèves peuvent participer. Le thème « Quelque chose de spécial » invite les participants à montrer un aspect spécial de leur communauté aux personnes qui n’y ont jamais mis les pieds. La photo doit inciter les gens à visiter la communauté. Il peut s’agir : d’un immeuble historique; d’un attrait naturel, comme un lac ou une montagne; d’un événement, comme une procession; d’une spécialité locale, comme un mets; d’une activité ou d’un sport; d’une personne ou d’un groupe de personnes.

Limite d’une participation par élève. Trois gagnants dans chaque pays recevront chacun 100 $ et seront inscrits à la compétition internationale. Le premier prix de la compétition internationale est de 800 $. Le second est de 500 $.

The twenty-first century has brought new challenges for tourism. Climate change, infectious diseases, economic crises, terrorism, globalisation, and entrenched social problems pose threats and create an uncertain tourism environment that affects destinations and their populations in virtually every corner of the contemporary world. To keep pace with these challenges, governments, businesses, communities, and tourism organisations need to continuously assess environmental factors, to identify future trends and to examine various response policies and management techniques to decrease risk and uncertainty

This ICSTDTM 2011 international conference will embrace significant sub-themes relating to Sustainable Tourism Development , Tourism Marketing and Opportunities of Toursim in Global . The conference will bring together scholars, professionals and practitioners from various disciplines and countries and provide them with a unique forum for sharing the latest theories and practices.

The conference program proudly features accomplished experts from around the world that will exchange views on the latest industry buzz topics ranging from economic sustainability, hotel design, culture and media to technology, branding concepts and conference tourism.

The current economics issues have highlighted the importance of sustainability and heralds the end of the system on which modern society has been organised in the past. It also indicates the dawn of a new era with a more natural use of materials and energy. The scenario is set for a different type of society, one in which these conditions converge; planning and occupation of space; the material and cultural landscape being considered as resources and a suitable amount of leisure time becoming available.

The landscape is to be enjoyed is both the natural and cultural one. There are natural landscapes in the world which will require a higher degree of protection. Biodiversity should be cherished and the object of our constant attention. The cultural landscape will blend with this vision creating a process for constant education and knowledge production.

GTTP Digital Photo Competition

The Canadian Academy of Travel & Tourism is holding a competition to select three student photographers whose work will represent Canada in the GTTP Digital Photo Competition.

The theme is “Something Special” so there’s no limit to what you can shoot. Use your unique perspective to photograph any person, place, or thing that YOU think makes Canada amazing.

Send your entry to info@cattcanada.ca before midnight February 28, 2011.

Each year the GTTP holds a competition for the best school research project. Research topics are selected by the GTTP Directors. Schools that are part of the GTTP can research the topic and enter the competition. Each GTTP member country selects a winner of the GTTP Research Award. The winning school sends two students and their teacher to an international conference in November.

Quesnel Torch Relay Events

Ann Tobin's Tourism 11 class are involved in the Quesnel Torch Relay events coming up on Jan.29.

We have been working on posters, voting(we made, handed out voting cards to the whole school with a little spiel about how imp. it is to vote on the gamestown 2010 website.

We went to every classroom to deliver the message. We are in the running to win $100,000.00 for our community) We also get event updates and we are planning for the big day.They are pretty pumped about it all. They realize that it is a great experience. Next week, we have a visit from one of the athletes. So, this will be something that will become part of their memory banks from high school(hopefully). All good stuff.
